B represents the sideducts for ventilating the audience-room, showing its connection with the vertical shaft at H. C represents the flues between the joists for ventilating the basement; D, the inlet to the same as described beneath the windows; E, the outlet for the escape of cold air at the floor of the audience-room in the outer wall; F, the ventilator in the ceiling; G is the escape at the apex of the roof; L, the vertical shaft. The flues are of capacity for supplying 6 cubic ft of air, with a current of 6 ft. per second, thus admitting 36 ft. every second, equal to 2,160 ft. per minute, and changing the whole body of air in less than fourteen minutes.
