AMONG the extraordinary signs which characterize
present times, one of the most remarkable is the prominence which the Jewish nation has so recently acquired in the public mind, not only in this country, but throughout the whole of civilized Europe. A revolution of opinion has taken place, resembling a transition from a state of supineness and neglect, to one of active sympathy and deep interest in their behalf. They are sud
