1. Translate and explain :

(α) Καὶ ἀνδρεία δρα πόλις μέρει τινὶ ἑαυτῆς ἐστί, διὰ τὸ ἐν ἐκείνῳ ἔχειν δύναμιν τοιαύτην, ἢ διὰ παντὸς σώσει τὴν περὶ τῶν δεινῶν δόξαν, ταῦτά τε αὐτὰ εἶναι καὶ τοιαῦτα, ἅ τε καὶ οἷα ὁ νομοθέτης παρήγγειλεν ἐν τῇ παιδείᾳ.

(6) τοιούτῳ δ ̓ ἔοικεν καὶ ἡ ἡδονή. ὅλον γάρ τι ἐστίν καὶ κατ' οὐδένα χρόνον λάβοι τις ἂν ἡδονὴν ἧς ἐπὶ πλείω χρόνον γινομένης τελειωθήσεται τὸ εἶδος. διόπερ οὐδὲ κίνησις ἐστίν.

(ε) τῇ δ' ὑστεραίᾳ ἅμα τῇ ἡμέρᾳ οἱ μὲν πρυτάνεις την βουλὴν ἐκάλουν εἰς τὸ βουλευτήριον, ὑμεῖς δ ̓ εἰς τὴν ἐκκλη σίαν ἐπορεύεσθε, καὶ πρὶν ἐκείνην χρηματίσαι καὶ προβουλεῦσαι πᾶς ὁ δῆμος ἄνω καθῆτο.

(α) Inventus est scriba quidam Cn. Flavius, qui cornicum oculos confixerit et singulis diebus discendis fastos populo proposuerit et ab ipsis causis iuris consultorum sapientiam compilarit.
