Polish. *Not complete. columns of the second section were done in this same way. Then for ten minutes, the 45 columns of Section 3 and Section 4, taken together, were added. The difficulties in this procedure came from the fact that the children's figures were too large generally for the allotted space, which caused some confusion. The cases number 69, with representatives from 13 "nationalities or races." The results, both as to amount completed and as to amount correct, are shown in tables 38 and 38a. An interesting point in the Armenian list, is the close agreement between the scores of the nine-year-old and the twenty-two-yearold (1 case each). The Italian of 7 had a low score, but not the lowest of the group. Of the six groups furnishing the largest numbers, four-the Armenian, the Hebrew, the German, and the Scotch-run fairly even. For Substitution (Symbol-Digit) the Hopkins Test, Form 3 was used. The numbers placed below the six figures of the key ran in the following order: 5, 1, 4, 3, 6, 2. With the key, and without the key, the time allowed was the same three minutes. Tables 39 and 40 give the results. With the key, it is to be noticed that for each race with 8 or more representatives, the ranges for completion and for correctness are practically identical. What was done was accurate. This is true too for the ranges without the key. With the key, in these larger groups, the means for completion and accuracy are the same except for the Italians. Without the key, the two means practically correspond with each other for the Hebrews, the Armenians, the Hungarians, the Greeks, and the Czecho-Slovaks. The last three races, however, furnished but two representatives each. The highest mean without the key, both for completion and for accuracy, is made by the Armenians. |
