RECOGNITION OF DELEGATES AND CONFER

RING OF DEGREES

The Kirkpatrick Chapel, 10:00 A. M.

The second formal academic session, the reception of delegates and the conferring of honorary degrees, came on Saturday morning. The day was bright and fine, perfect weather following on the unpleasant weather of the afternoon before. The Trustees, candidates for honorary degrees, and delegates assembled at the Library at half past nine. The Faculty assembled at the Engineering Building. The academic procession moved from the Library, led by the President of the College with Nicholas Murray Butler, Ph.D., LL.D., Jur.D., President of Columbia University; the Rev. William Bancroft Hill, D.D., Trustee, followed with Alexander Meiklejohn, LL.D., President of Amherst College. The candidates for honorary degrees with Trustees as escorts were next; Chevalier W. L. F. C. van Rappard, and his escort, the Hon. A. T. Clearwater, LL.D.; the Hon. Joseph H. Choate and Luther Laflin Kellogg, LL.D.; Chancellor Robert E. Walker and William E. Florance, Esq.; Mr. Robert E. Speer and the Rev. William I. Chamberlain, D.D.; Dean Virginia Crocheron Gildersleeve and the Rev. Henry E. Cobb, D.D.; President Ernest Martin Hopkins and Charles L. Edgar, Esq.; the Rev. David James Burrell and the Rev. Joseph R. Duryee, D.D.; the Rev. Elisha Brooks Joyce and the Rev. John H. Raven, D.D.; the Rev. Ame Vennema and the Rev. J. Preston Searle, D.D.; Professor Chuzaburo Shiba and Mr. Leonor F. Loree; Mr. Peter Cooper Hewitt and Mr. Paul Cook; Professor John Livingston Rutgers Morgan and Philip M. Brett, Esq.; Mr. Henry Janeway Hardenbergh and Frederick Frelinghuysen, Esq.; Professor Austin Wakeman Scott and Alfred F. Skinner, Esq.
