But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed. Ibib. liii. 5.

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound. Ibib. Ixi. 1.

Behold, the days come saith the Lord that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, And this is the name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. Jer. xxiii. 5, 6,

And they all shall have one Shepherd. Ez. xxvii. 24.

But thou Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me, that is to be ruler in Israel: whose

goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. Micah v. 2.

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion ; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold thy King cometh unto thee: he is just and having salvation: lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. Zech. ix. 9.

Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the Lord of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered. Zech. xiii. 7.

Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

Fulfilment.

I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Luke ii. 10, 11.

Now is the judgment of this world: ́now shall the prince of this world be cast out, St. John xii. 31.

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel: for he hath visited and redeemed his people. And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David. To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant. The oath which he sware to our father Abraham. Luke i. 68, 69, 72, 73.

And, behold, a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased: hear ye Him. Matt. xvii, 5.

And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him. Called of God an High Priest, after the order of Melchizedek. Heb. v. 9, 10.

I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. St. John xii. 46.

And he called his name JESUS. Matt. i. 25.

Wherefore God hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every shall bow, of things in heaven and things on earth. Phil. ii. 9, 10.

Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls; For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matt. xi. 28-30.

And in the same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits, and unto many that were blind he gave sight. Then Jesus answering, said, unto them, Go your way and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead

are raised, to the poor the Gospel is preached. Luke vii. 21, 22.

I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. And 1 give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. St. John x. 14-28.

Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him, and others smote him with the palms of their hands. Matt. xxvi. 6, 7.

And they crucified him. Matt. xxvii. 35. But God raised him from the dead. Acts xiii. 30.

Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered : And being made perfect, he hecame the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him. Heb. v. 8, 9. Also see 1st of Peter ii. 21-25.

And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is this
